“HIME-DIA”, Nano-Polycrystalline Diamond (NPD)

himedia
NPD is a binder-less sintered nanodiamonds (~50 nm) synthesized by direct conversion of graphite under high P-T at GRC first in 2003. It is optically transparent and has extremely high hardness exceeding that of single-crystalline diamond. The use of 6000 ton press (Botchan) has expanded the size of NPD to 1 cm, which is a thousand times bigger in volume than the original product in 2003. Large NPD can be adopted for anvils for DAC, multianvil and Drickamer apparatuses. We will prepare anvils with desired shapes and sizes by laser-processing upon request for collaborative researches.
