要 旨
Northeast India is bounded by the Himalayan arc to the north and the
Burmese
arc to the east. The present day tectonics of this part of India is
complicated because of collision and continued north-south convergence along
the Himalayan arc. For a better understanding of the tectonic activities of
the area we have attempted to determine P- and S- velocity and Poisson’ s
ratio structures using Zhao et al.(1992) tomographic method. The
micro-earthquake data recorded by Indian seismological networks during
1986-2000 have been used for this study. About 4000 high quality P- and S-
wave arrival time data from selected 587 events was used for this study.
Our results show significant lateral heterogeneities in the study area.
Tomography images obtained are compatible with the major tectonic features
such as active faults and seismic trends. The encouraging results provide
us an impetus to carry out more extensive tomographic research in this
seismically active zone of India in near future.
