要 旨
Because of the considerable influence of C-O-H fluids on melting temperature and other properties of mantle minerals, the existence, composition, and state of C-O-H fluids in the Earth's mantle are important issues to understand the mantle's properties and dynamics. The oxidation states of the mantle become reduced with depth. It is considered that the deeper part of the upper mantle, the mantle transition zone, and the lower mantle are zones in which CH4-H2O fluids are dominant. In fact, methane was found in diamond inclusions. However, study on effects of methane fluid on mantle minerals was extremely limited, while many studies on the states of water in the mantle minerals were previously performed. Polymerization of methane and formation of hydrocarbons and hydrogen molecules were reported by high pressure and high temperature experiments of pure methane. However, changes of methane coexisting mantle minerals have not been studied. In this study, high-pressure and high-temperature experiments of methane-olivine system were performed using laser heated diamond anvil cell. Stability of methane, formation of heavier hydrocarbons was examined. In addition, the effect of methane on phase transition of olivine to high pressure phase and the crystal structure were examined.
