Abstract
P-V-T equations of state (EOS) are substantial physical properties of materials and ractically important for static high-pressure and high-temperature experiments as the pressure-scales. We have tried to determine EOS of B1 phase of MgO to be a candidate for a primary standard of the pressure-scales through "Scale-Free Unified Analyses (SFUA)" (Tange et al., 2009). In the last SFUA, adequately selected four kinds of pressure-scale-free experimental data sets were simultaneously analyzed on the basis of Mie-Gruneisen-Debye model. As a results, two EOS models were determined based on Vinet and third order Birch-Murnaghan equations to represent the experimental data, which are potential candidates of the primary pressure-scale. However, two crucial problems remain to be solved. One of them is a lack of experimental data and the other is our lack of knowledge about the "true" functional form for isotherms (PT0-V equations). Recently infinite EOS models were tested in the SFUA and laser-driven shock-wave experiments were carried out in order to overcome these problems. In this seminar, I would like to report the recent results toward ultimate EOS of materials.
