要 旨
Earth formed by accretion of material over a period of tens of millions
of years. Much of the mass was delivered in
large bodies ,causing extensive melting. The conditions that led to core-mantle separation, current siderophile mantle
abundances , existence of the D" layer and possible mantle layering were all probably determined in this early, high
energy phase.
